2000 field hockey campaign begins

Passaic Valley opened the season with a 2-0 loss to NHC rival Montville despite
outshooting the Mustangs 8 to 5. Goalie Kelly Palmer came up with three saves.
Wayne Valley tied Lakeland 1-1 when Lynn Hazelman knotted the score with 7 minutes, 25 seconds left in the game
as Stephanie Mariconda picked up an assist. Dani Lerro scored in the opening half for Lakeland off an assist from
Kristin Moore. |

Mizzone sparkles in Warner Lambert/United Way
5K

| Jesse Mizzone turned in an outstanding performance in the 2000 Warner Lambert/United
Way 5K Run contested through the streets of Morris Plains on Thursday evening. The Totowa 15-year old was the fifth
female overall among the contingent of 611 distaff runners to complete the 3.1 mile course. She was clocked in
18 minutes, 58 seconds as she won the girls 19 & under age division. See story and local results...... |
